General description of the necklace

Love blue but sometimes find it too loud? Amazonite brings a soft blue, here in an irregular shape, on a stainless steel necklace.

It measures 43.5 cm, plus a 3.5 cm extension, and closes with a spring ring clasp. Wear it alone with an open neckline, or layered with a longer chain.

What is the history and origin of the amazonite in this necklace?

Amazonite is a feldspar, a family of minerals that makes up a large part of the Earth's crust. Its sea-green to turquoise-blue color, often veined with white, is thought to come from traces of lead and water trapped in the crystal. It forms in pegmatites, coarse-crystal rocks resulting from slowly cooled magma. Its name, settled in 1847, evokes the Amazon River, although no significant deposit is known in that region; it is mined notably in India, Brazil, Madagascar and the United States, and the origin of each stone is stated on its product page. It has been worn for thousands of years: it has been found in ornaments from Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt, even in the treasure of Tutankhamun. Its soft color and pearly sheen make it a luminous stone to wear.

The stone in your jewelry comes from Brazil.

What potential benefits can you expect?

In lithotherapy, amazonite is nicknamed the stone of truth, hope and courage. It is credited with a soothing energy that may help calm worries and fears, restore emotional balance and rebuild self-confidence. It may also encourage sincere and caring communication, and help you express your thoughts and feelings more freely. Tradition associates it with the Heart Chakra and the Throat Chakra, as well as with the sign of Aquarius. These are the virtues that lithotherapy attributes to it: they have not been scientifically proven and are in no way a substitute for medical advice. Amazonite is worn first and foremost for its clear-water color, fresh and luminous.

Our care tips

Stainless steel owes its resistance to corrosion to the chromium it contains. Wash your jewelry in lukewarm, soapy water with a soft cloth, then dry it. After contact with seawater or chlorinated water, rinse it in clean water. Avoid abrasive products and chlorinated household products, which can damage its surface.

Amazonite is fairly hard, but it cleaves easily: a sharp knock can chip or split it. Even if the metal of your jewelry can handle water, the stone itself does not like to soak: take off your jewelry for swimming, sports, gardening or manual work, and store it separately, in a dry place, so that it does not bump against other stones. To clean it, wipe the stone with a soft cloth or rinse it quickly in lukewarm, soapy water, then dry it. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam and high heat. In lithotherapy, it is purified with white sage smudging, and recharged for a few hours in moonlight, or on a bed of quartz crystals.

What are the manufacturing steps, standards and certifications of the necklace?

Each piece of jewelry comes with its certificate of authenticity. Stainless steel does not darken and can handle contact with water, but the stone in your jewelry is delicate: take it off before showering, bathing or swimming. Your jewelry complies with the European REACH regulations on nickel, lead and cadmium. As steel is not a precious metal, it does not bear a fineness hallmark, in accordance with standard practice.

Who is it for? Is the jewelry hypoallergenic?

For you if you like light blues and easy-to-wear necklaces, or for someone close to you who loves gentle stones. Stainless steel is hypoallergenic and complies with REACH regulations: it suits most sensitive skin.
