Amber is not a stone like any other: it is a conifer resin, fossilized over more than forty million years. The amber in our jewelry comes from the Baltic Sea, home to most of the world's amber deposits. Storms loosen it from the seabed and wash it up on the beaches, where it is still gathered by hand; it is also extracted from the ground near the coast. Nicknamed "the gold of the North", it has been worn and traded since prehistoric times. Its color ranges from honey yellow to cognac, with greener or more orange hues, and it sometimes holds tiny fragments of plants or insects, traces of a vanished forest. Take off your jewelry before putting on perfume, applying cream or doing housework, and store it separately, in its pouch, so that it does not rub against other jewelry.
