All your questions about this bracelet
A stone with many shades: that's what labradorite brings you. This bracelet combines it, in an irregular shape, with stainless steel.
It measures 15.5 cm and gains 3.5 cm with its extension, closed with a spring ring clasp. It looks just as good alone as next to a silver-tone watch or a slim bangle.
Labradorite is a feldspar, one of the most common families of minerals in the Earth's crust. Its special feature is a play of metallic flashes, blue, green, sometimes golden or orange, which lights up at a certain angle and disappears when you turn the stone: labradorescence. This play of light comes from very thin internal layers that reflect the light, a little like a butterfly's wings. It owes its name to Labrador, in Canada, where Moravian missionaries described it around 1770. An Inuit legend tells that the northern lights were trapped in these rocks, and that a hunter freed some of them with a blow of his harpoon. Today it is mined notably in Africa, Finland and Russia.
The stone in your jewelry comes from Canada.
In lithotherapy, labradorite is seen as a stone of protection and transformation. It is credited with the power to repel negative thoughts and outside influences, like a shield, and to accompany periods of change. It may also help soothe stress and keep a clear mind, and stimulate intuition and imagination; it is often kept close at hand for meditation. Tradition associates it with the Third Eye Chakra. These benefits belong to the beliefs of lithotherapy, have not been scientifically proven and are in no way a substitute for medical advice. Above all, labradorite is worn for that secret glow that awakens at the slightest movement.
Stainless steel owes its resistance to corrosion to the chromium it contains. Wash your jewelry in lukewarm, soapy water with a soft cloth, then dry it. After contact with seawater or chlorinated water, rinse it in clean water. Avoid abrasive products and chlorinated household products, which can damage its surface.
Labradorite is of medium hardness and cleaves easily: a knock can chip it, and its polish can be scratched by harder stones. Store your jewelry separately and take it off for sports or manual work. To clean it, rinse the stone in lukewarm, lightly soapy water, without soaking it, then dry it; a gentle polish with a cotton cloth brings its flashes back to life. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam and sudden changes in temperature. In lithotherapy, it is recharged for a few hours in moonlight, preferably on a full-moon night, or placed on a quartz cluster or an amethyst geode.
Each piece of jewelry comes with its certificate of authenticity. Stainless steel does not darken and can handle contact with water: a piece of jewelry that goes everywhere with you, compliant with the European REACH regulations on nickel, lead and cadmium. As steel is not a precious metal, it does not bear a fineness hallmark, in accordance with standard practice.
For you if you like stones with many shades, or for someone close to you who prefers slightly mysterious jewelry. Stainless steel is hypoallergenic and complies with REACH regulations: it suits most sensitive skin.
