Rose quartz is a variety of quartz, one of the most widespread minerals in the Earth's crust. Its soft color, from pale pink to powder pink, comes from tiny mineral fibers trapped in the stone, which also give it its milky appearance. It forms in masses in pegmatites, coarse-crystal rocks born from the slow cooling of magma; Brazil and Madagascar are among its main sources. Worked since Antiquity, into beads as well as seals, it has long been associated with love: a Greek legend has it that the blood of Aphrodite and Adonis tinted it pink. With a hardness of 7, it is easy to wear every day.
